Summer/Fall, 2007 -- The Jefferson County's Sheriff's Office Corrections Division has recently gone through a period of transition related to staffing. We experienced a number of openings for deputies as a result of a combination of resignations and medical issues that hit all at the same time. Staffing shortages are always trying times that test the resolve of those still on the job. In this case, however, there is a silver lining to the story. During the same period of time that we were serching for new staff, the Coose County Sheriff's Office experienced major budget issues resulting in large layoffs including corrections staff. I am happy to announce that four of the displaced staff members from Coos County have accepted positions with our office: Corrections Deputies Jacob Fowler, Casey Ledford and Joseph Mead, as well as Corrections Sergeant Brad Cook. We welcome those very capable folks.
