Participants will gain a better understanding of the wide varieties of challenges that face the Sheriff's Office daily. Topics covered will include a message from the sheriff on budget and financial issues facing the Sheriff's Office, and how sheriff's office roles and responsibilities differ from a police department. Other classes will include a discussion with the District Attorney on the role of his office and how he interacts with the Sheriff's Office, use of force, search and rescue, traffic crashes, DUI investigations, and other criminal investigations. Participants may be given an opportunity to participate as a Sheriff's Office volunteer in a number of programs within the Sheriff's Office.
